Hi,
I'm an Oakland filmmaker that had a film that premiered at the Mill Valley Film Festival and is now playing again in San Francisco.
It's called "Compound Eye" and it centers around an East Bay cartoonist who draws a controversial comic strip depicting the World Trade Center rebuilt as an IHOP with two stacks of pancakes rising high into the sky, and how it affects his roommate who is trying to quietly run a pirate radio station out of his basement. The movie stars Fausto Caceres (from the radio show, Shirley and Spinoza) and Jesse Reklaw (the cartoon, "Slow Wave"), and uses their real lives and weaves them into a fictional story.
Go to www.compoundeyemovie.com for info and a trailer.
It screens at the Climate Theater in San Francisco (the corner of 9th and Folsom)
www.climatetheater.com
Sunday, Nov. 11 @ 7pm
The show is only $5, and they serve beer and wine as well.
Please support local filmmaking!
